To plan my Wonderland Trail hike, I bought three different books, including this one. Tami's is by FAR the best. It offers great summaries of different sections as well as detailed descriptions. So many details are covered: permits, the Spray Park and Northern Loop options, packing, caching, conditioning, etc. There are numerous maps, and all of the charts at the back really helped me plan a well-informed itinerary. Great book!I used a hard copy edition of this book to plan my Wonderland hike (since I still really like good old-fashioned books) and then downloaded the Kindle version to my phone to use for reference on the trail. After a quick read each night, I could hit the trail the next morning well-prepared for the day ahead!I should point out that I did also bring along a Green Trails map of the Wonderland Trail, which I really only wanted to identify mountains, etc.

We finished the Wonderland yesterday- this book was instrumental in planning and is highly recommended. In a somewhat bullet format I'll add a few notes...I think it is better to deliver your food caches rather than mail them- discuss with the rangers THE ACTUAL PICK-UP POINTS, and have your map with you- they will give you current trail and water conditions, this proved to be very valuable. We opted for a 12 day hike, after just a few days we realized that we had underestimated our hiking ability and changed out schedule to a 9 day hike. The rangers were very good about helping us with the changes, keep a slower plan and a faster plan in mind as the hike progresses (don't forget to get word to the rangers to re-date your food caches if you change your schedule).Thank those rangers and back country guys when you see them-the trail is in splendid condition, the maintenance is ongoing. When you meet a man wearing a pack-board with a 55 gallon drum lashed to it and he is going to muck out one of the outhouses on the trail is really makes you think about all the steps that you are traversing, the water bars, the brush...on and on with the list.Trail-trash... and I'm not talking about litter, there are some not so nice people on the trail who think nothing about leapfrogging a campsite because they "didn't like it" or the day was too long / short. That means that if you are a late arrival at a camp all the sites may be taken, then you have to ask to see permits and engage in eviction, the rangers need to hear about these guys and they leave the park "With extra paperwork:". One party we met started as a party of 3, but one of them became ill and suffered a fall resulting in an injury- so she was abandoned at Golden Lakes to fend for herself... dumped on the rangers. Point being, know your trail team- when you look at the map note where the roads are close by the trail should you need to get help. The authors mention bugs... perhaps once or twice... they talk about deer flies and horse flies... but as much as they talk about it is still under emphasized, there are legions, hordes, armies of bugs at some of the campsites DON'T IGNORE THESE WARNINGS.There was a great tip about putting apples / oranges / pears in your food caches- after a couple of days without fresh fruit these were a huge bonus. We also included some of the Hormel dinners- already hydrated and a nice break from the normal trail food. All in all, this is essential equipment in planning your hike. The Wonderland is aptly named- this one of the high churches in the outdoor religion, you will be constantly amazed!!

From the very beginning of this book, you can tell where Tami’s heart is. She genuinely loves this trail and being in the outdoors. It is written in a way to be easy to read, but filled with priceless facts and experience. I am very grateful to have this jewel at my fingertips to plan my hike of the Wonderland Trail about a year and a half from now.

If you're going to hike the WL this is the book to get. Lots of very, very useful details, and some humor. She really understands trail hiking. Hint: to save weight download it to a Kindle. (I'm not really an Amazon employee!). Then, read the information about the section you will be hiking next in the evening before or first thing while you're eating your oatmeal. ps: The WL trail is challenging but incredibly worth it. Get the book but more important, hike the trail.

Excellent in almost all respects. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that, as a section hiker, it didn't address the parking situation (where are the places I can park and do I need a pass to stick on my dashboard?), nor did it discuss camping options the night before one starts his trek. Most places (e.g., Yosemite NP, most Sierra trailheads) have campgrounds at the trailhead where one can count on camping the night before and after, but Rainier appears to have no such options at Lake Mowich or Sunrise or Longmire. So, what does one do?

A fun book to read. The author has a unique sense of humor. The book was in excellent condition and as described.

If you are planning a trip to the Wonderland Trail this is the best and only book to get. Has all the information necessary to plan and successfully execute a hike on the WT.

Wonderful comprehensive book. Can serve as a coffee table book for guests, but I'm using it to prepare for hiking the Wonderland trail and appreciate the detail

Yes, there are plenty of fields to be standing out in on Malta, Gozo, and Comino, as well as stunning beaches, cliffs, fascinating towns, ancient ruins and multi-cultural bustling cities. This walking guide will show you the very best facets of the islands at a pace that matches the local one. It gives crystal clear, easy to follow directions, provides accurate detailed topo maps of the routes and provides a chatty, interesting running commentary to keep you company on your hike. You can even avoid renting a car with the useful information about public transit provided. The islands of Malta are a rare gem, but they are quickly becoming overdeveloped in places - buy this book, book your flight and go before they are spoilt forever.

I thought we would use this book to plan our walks around the island when we vacationed there for a week. I learned that it would take more than an hour to get to each of these walks (except one) and they mostly show off the arid countryside. We found it much more interesting to take a bus to the areas we really wanted to see and spend our time in museums and on the water. Maybe if we were there for 3 months instead of just a week we would have appreciated this book more.

Bad. Good ideas written badly. Borrows heavy from other stories. Writing on par with a teenager. Repetitive explanations of plot. Fixated on sodomy. One of worst books ever read. Wish could give lower than one star. Hopefully I change mind after next two books in series because I was dumb enough to buy them all before reading this absolutely giant turd sandwich. A true dumpster fire of writing. Worth reading just to see how bad it is and get a laugh

The premise of the book was great. The writing and editing of the book was atrocious.I tried to read this book in the hopes the story would pull me in...It didn't and it couldn't

These isn't Interview with the Vampire or the Twilight series, but real badass vampires that kill, rape, plunder, and ravage. There's a vampire mob boss that makes Don Corleone seem like a pussycat, there's a killer of vampires who happens to be a vampire himself, and only fees from vampire blood, there's discussion of ancient Rome, Judea, Egypt, and even the demon Lilith. If you're easily offended, don't read this book, but if you like splatterpunk and real raw horror, then you will enjoy it. It's a real page turner, I finished it in days.

The vamps in this book are scary, sadistic and described very well. The things they do to humans and each other are horrible and made me cringe a few times. The book is pretty well written, maybe a little slow paced at times, but good for the most part. I didn't want to put it down until I was finished and that's usually my main motivation for giving 5 stars. The storyline is really cool - Lilith created vampires and then turned the Roman soldier who speared Jesus on the cross into a badass vampire killer who was also a vamp, but he ended up having a conscious and rebelled against her. There's a lot of back and forth between the modern time period of the story's setting and Longinus' flashback to how he was created. The fight scenes and characterizations are very detailed so it's easy to imagine most of the story unfolding. There's a little bit of romance and a lot of sex, mostly of the rape variety. It's not a pleasant story, but it could make a great supernatural action movie where you really hate the bad guys and the good guy is totally bad ass.

I read quite a bit of vampire fiction and it has become a chore to wade through all of the stinkers that have flooded the market of late. It's refreshing to find a new author who has put together both an original story and developed some seriously interesting characters, as Alan Kinross has done with "Longinus The Vampire". A story thousands of years in the making, as Loginus goes back to the time of Christ. His interesting history collides with the present as his soul mate is taken from him and he is set on vengeance. This story was intriguing, erotic, raw and definitely hard to put down.

Longinus is a vampire with special skills given to him by Lilith, which make him the most dangerous of all vampires. But, he still struggles with his former human emotions. This struggle is described in wonderful detail by Mr. Kinross. This book is definitely not for teenage girls or romance buffs! It's a delicious tale of jealously, lust, avarice, gore and sexual depravity among vampires! A definite read for "humans" who crave vampire lore.

After my second read of this book, I decided to write a review. While it is Mr. Kinross' freshman novel, I found "Longinus the Vampire" intriguing, exciting, definitely a hard-to-put-down read, and...sexy as hell! After all, what's sexier than a vampire with a conscience that shifts into hero-mode when people are in trouble? One of my several favorite quotes from the novel is as follows: "The moonlight covered the tombstones with an ethereal glow, and the statues above the tombs stood like silent guards waiting for something to happen'.Longinus is not a "typical" vampire...he has a predestined path that he must follow. Mr. Kinross has written an imaginative novel with a new twist on the character of a vampire. It allowed my imagination to soar taking me into a world of darkness and depravity, but with the hope of a light at the end of the tunnel.

Many vampire stories follow a common thread. This story doesn't do that, which is refreshing. The suggestion of our history being revisionist is intriguing and imaginative.I would consider this erotica and not recommended for children, but that warning is clearly stated so there should be no surprises. It's not so graphic as to be offensive either. In fact, it was an integral part of the story.I read this book quickly...I couldn't put it down for too long before needing to go back to it. The ending completely took me by surprise (do not cheat and peek or you will regret it). Can't wait for the next book!

I bought this book after it was referenced in the very well-written The Panic Virus (Seth Mnookin), which I'd highly recommend. I was curious about a professional's take on math skills in the general population. There's plenty of good insight and information, but it's like the author couldn't make up his mind if he wanted to rant or educate. He covers a number of numerical fallacies and adds explanations, but often it feels like the explanation would come up short to anyone who really didn't understand the particular issue being covered. I'm quite good with math myself so it was easy for me to follow everything, but parts of the book came off more as a "we smart people get why that's so dumb". I think the book could be improved by either tightening it up and focusing on a more advanced reader group or by really fleshing out the explanations to try and really help readers who are not good at math and actually suffer from the innumeracy/ies he describes. He could probably have done both even, if he set up chapters with a high-level concept, issue and effects section, then an educational/explanation section that the advanced reader could easily skip over.Lots of good, but could really use a revision or two.

The author goes through a large number of real-world examples of applied mathematics, that I (a retired engineer) had thought were like breathing out, breathing in. When I shared a couple of them with my adolescent grand-children, I found some enthusiastic "aha!!" moments. Huh...

Innumeracy opens your mind and makes you question things you have heard on television and the news. John Allen Paulos, who is fantastically witty, explains complex and simple misconceptions in a manner that almost anyone can understand. Paulos writes takes you back into history with Julius Caesar and brings you back to the present with baseball figures and common mistakes in statistics. It opens your mind to just what exactly numbers can do and how they revolve around almost every aspect in our lives. Innumeracy makes you look at yourself and others around you and see how understanding numbers can help you improve in numerous ways. Paulos applies mathematics to almost every aspect in life. If you believe you are "not a math person," then this is the book for you. Using real life examples, Paulos makes you understand why math and numbers are so important. Innumeracy shows how celebrities, presidents, and major politicians use numbers in the wrong way. It is amazing what you will find out in this information-packed book. From statistics to probability to the multiplication principle, this book has it all and is written in such a way that makes even the most boring subject interesting to any reader. Witty and to-the-point, Paulos writes a book that could change the way people think for the better and most likely improve our society as a whole. If everyone read this book, it is amazing what the results would be. He takes the most relevant and sometimes controversial subjects and applies them to math while pointing out how some things are not correct at all. You will soon find yourself thinking twice about saying, "I am not a math person" or "Math just isn't my subject."

This is the book for people who want to go one step beyond HOW TO LIE WITH STATISTICS. So many of us are bewitched by sloppy statistics, by flawed procedurals that wind up in the mass media and other lies, some benign, some not, that author Paulos felt this book was necessary. He went on to write a couple more according to the same themes.

John Allen Paulos passionately explains in a personal essay the probabilistic nature of life. He believes that too often people are innumerate and have many misconceptions about math. He enumerates these fallacies in the preface (Paulos, xii,xiv):1. Math is nothing more than computation;2. Math is a completely hierarchical subject;3. Storytelling is not effective as an educational tool in mathematics;4. Mathematics is only for a few;5. Math numbs or limits our freedom.Since Paulos studied philosophy as an undergrad and mathematics in graduate school, he respectfully acknowledges the duality of the two disciplines. Throughout the book he makes comparisons such as "The romantics believe that a concern with numbers numbs us to the big questions of grandeur of sunsets and waterfalls" (Paulos, 179).Paulos provides real world examples of innumeracy in subjects like stock scams, choice of spouse, newspaper psychics, diet, medical claims, lottery, astrology, drug testing, insurance and law. At times the reader must patiently muster through detailed proofs. But, don't worry as Paulos promises "there won't be a test" (Paulos, xiv). Be patient, just rest and relax while reading "Innumeracy" then will you thoroughly enjoy it. If you are among the innumerate then simply read through the math formulas without a concern for grasping the conceptual depth. John Allen Paulos is flexing his numerate muscles giving Innumeracy greater strength. The author's aim is to make each of us less intimidated by the numbers. He begins by familiarizing the reader with the basis of counting: how many people are in the US; how many people in the US are under 18, how many die each year; how many cigarettes are smoked each year; and how many words are there in a good sized novel? Many of us believe incorrectly in the magic of coincidences. However, there are no coincidences instead statistical probabilities. For example in a room of 23 random people - 2 or more will have the same birthday. Another example is the old adage "everything comes in threes" (Paulos, 69). Again this is just statistical probability since if you wait long enough things will come in sets of three. Another misconception is the "why me?" attitude toward misfortunes. Bad things happen periodically, the probability is that they're going to happen to somebody, why not you?"The tendency to attribute meaning to phenomena governed only by chance is ubiquitous" (Paulos, 114). The fruitful example the author uses to illustrate this concept is regression to the mean. Regression to the mean is the tendency for an extreme value of random quantity followed by a value closer to the mean. In this case he provides the example of very intelligent people who may have intelligent offspring, yet generally will be more likely to be less intelligent than their parents.John Allen Paulos has an affinity to number ID over name as a means of identification since no two people can have the same ID number. However, he is appalled by the use of an excessive number of digits. In being numerate one would know that an identification number with 9 digits will have 109 (one billion) possible different numbers.Innumeracy covers relative risk, which is a significantly large issue for Public Health and the future of health care. This interesting passage in the book proposes that a logarithmic safety index be used. In this way we would be measuring the relative safety against the relative danger adding on the likelihood of the endeavor.Innumeracy is not a romantic beach read. Its meager attempt to be sexy is the argument over the "bell-curve" where "the urge to average can be seductive" (Paulos, 169). The appeal of this book comes from the nature of the author's experience in having studied philosophy, literature and mathematics. Paulos is a believer in the human condition, specifically the tendency to want it all. Numeracy will help people understand that there are going to be trade-offs. A romantic at heart he adamantly opposes the view that mathematics is esoteric and those that study numbers are "coldly rational". The author's desire is to stimulate numeracy and enhance the appreciation of the probabilistic nature of life. John Allen Paulos is a best selling author, public speaker, columnist for [...] and Guardian and a professor of math at Temple. He offers his web address and welcomes feedback [...]

Todah Rabah And All Praises To The Most High Yah Of Israel...Southern Kingdom was scattered to the four corners of the earth as it is written in Isaiah 11:11-12 and the real Northern Kingdom is still on the continent of so called Africa...The tents of Judah are waking up in these last days and it’s high time we come out of sleep oh house of Israel and turn back to our Elohim!!! The 1/3rd Of The remnant gets it!!! HalleluYAH!!!

Where Can I start.....Well I became a little upset when I found out that Pastors have been made aware of these books through seminary school, but tend to steer their members away from it.. The last time I checked I have to answer for myself before God not them!! So how I found out about this book was through a YouTube video Called "The forgotten books of the bible" I never knew that this used to be part of the original 1611 KJV Bible but later on it was removed, this blew my mind. As I began to read through the scriptures I realized more & more that it agree's with the Bible "The Wisdom of Jesus The son of Sirach" or Ecclesiasticus reads just like Proverbs. They sound so much alike that if one removed the titles of both books you wouldn't even know which book you were reading. I can go on & on about this book "Bel & the Dragon" sounded a little scary to me at first but it's about The Prophet Daniel steering the King away from False Idol worship. He also takes it a step further a proves to the King that they are false! We also learn in the book of 1 Maccabees about Hanukkah & how it came about, also we find the Lord attending Hanukkah in the Gospel of John 10::22 which is also called the "feast of dedication". I don't wanna ruin it for the reader & tell everything. All I can say is read it for yourself & you decide weather or not you should be reading it. Hosea 4:6 Says My People are destroyed for lack of knowledge because thou hast rejected knowledge, that thou shalt be no priest to me; seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. We should stop rejecting God's knowledge.

Most mainstream christians are stuck with only being taught with in the boundaries of the 66 canonical books that are in the bibles we read today. When in reality there are many books taken out by the early church for reasons unknown. For example Book of Enoch was found amongst the dead sea scrolls along with 21 fragments of book of Noah only book that was not amongst the scrolls was book of Ester which happens to be only canonical book in bible today that doesn't even mention God. Do your research and find the truth and the truth shall set you free!!!!

Im going to make it short and quick...its the missing books out of the King James Bible. In the 1611 King james its in there...but the king james of today; been taken out...so if you guys get this book; its the complete king james

I was hoping Enoch would be in here but its not oh well its still a lot in here very glad to have it

A must have sword for those descended from your father's line (so called black and Indigenous of the Americas) who have been scattered to the 4 corners of the Earth as prophesied waking up and taking back our book written by us for us. This book also covers the feast day Christ observed in John 10:22 which came about in the Book of Maccabees. It also covers the verse spoken by Christ in Matthew 23:37 which He got in the Book of 2 Esdras 1:30 and the revealing of what nation is the 4th beast which was not expounded upon to Daniel and many more.

Just received this today. Good Quality book but the only think I don't like is that the print is very small so I should have listened to one of the other reviewers when they said that the print was so small that they could not read it. I am able to read it but it would be much more comfortable to read if the print was at least twice as large as what they have used.

The Bible is Amazing! A Must Have to increase your knowledge faith and Joy! Excellent for researching!
