Immensely readable, beautifully timed and a very important book for forward-looking, forward-thinking women and men of all ages.
It is a rare gem to find an academic book that is also a page-turner. This is truly one of those. Collins uncovers the conflicts surrounding norms of work and motherhood in a fascinating and rigorous comparative study. Highly recommended!

Global culture changes (home/family, work, government) need to continually evolve to provide "good choices" to individuals or couples who elect to have families. Caitlyn's brilliantly written book highlights her interviews with mainly middle class mothers in various countries. I found the delivery of her conclusions thought provoking and suggest she talks to Congress to continue the enlightenment.
We need more sociologists/writers like Collins! A superbly illuminating and detailed analysis of the trials and tribulations of mothers in advanced industrialized societies.
As a millennial woman trying to strike a balance between wanting a family someday and working hard at my career, this book offers valuable insight.
