This book is actually interesting to read. My son very much prefers fiction over non-fiction, but both of us enjoyed reading this book. It was presented in a more narrative fashion than many non-fiction books and had little notes and such from Jack and Annie throughout tying it to his favorite series. I actually learned a few things reading this to him. Definitely not just another boring dinosaur book. The reading level is probably a year or two higher than the regular series, so while my son reads those books on his own, I read this one to him. I liked it enough that I plan on buying more Fact Tracker books to go along with the stories he is reading.

We bought this book as a companion to "Dinosaurs Before Dark" thinking it would provide our 6 yr old with more context around each of the dinosaurs featured in the book. While partially our fault for not checking, all the dinosaurs in the book are not included in this fact tracker.With that said this book is full of a ton of information regarding dinosaurs, their variety and other useful bits. The table of contents helped but an index would have been appreciated.

We love all the research guides for MTH. They are written at a higher Lexile level than the stories but it makes them fun to read together. My 6 year old doesn't have the patience to read through a research guide the entire way through on her own but together it makes for a fun project...she gets to tell me about what happened in the story to Jack & Annie and together we learn some fun facts about whatever time/place the story was about.

Students really enjoyed all the facts of this book to go along with Osborne's tree house book. The facts were easy to understand for 2nd graders and easy words for them to read. They really enjoyed the pictures and finding what dinosaur they liked best.

My 9-year old and I read the first book of the MTH series together using the Novel Ideas supplemental packet. That in itself was pretty adequate for provide more depth to the reading experience. The Dinosaurs Fact Tracker was stock full of interesting facts that were completely age-appropriate, but I didn't feel there was much connection between the Fact Tracker and the MTH book. Though I understand the point of these companion books are meant to provide a wider look into the background of the MTH books, I felt like the Fact Tracker was just random dinosaur facts. I was hoping for a little more correspondence to the MTH book and to present events.

Grandchildren love these books.

I had already bought the Magic Tree House series for my older son, but his younger brother struggles some with reading. This is perfect! He loves it. We will be ordering more for sure!

My 6yr old son likes the facts of everything!! He really enjoys reading the story and then picking up the fact book and learning more about the subject! I think these are a great companion to the Magic Treehouse stories with Jack and Annie.

Jane Redmont is a teacher, spiritual director, retreat facilitator, feminist theologian, social activist, and writer. She is currently preparing for ordination as an Episcopal priest. What a wonderful compendium of wisdom from a variety of spiritual perspectives! And yet they all come together as one. I love this book, and will use it for years to come. Such wisdom and inspiration!

Toughtfully written. more than i expected.

Thank you Jane Redmont for this most ecumenical read. I highly recommend it to broaden one's understanding of how we as a society pray and it identifies w/many types of prayer. I love the fact that Jane shares many of her prayers w/us.

This book should never have been put on the market. There were pages torn out in several places. The pages of the book were also very yellowed with age. It was just in terrible condition for the market place. I'm not sure I'd have even given it away to anyone! Too bad because the book itself is a wonderful book concerning prayer.

Hurray! My home library is full of books on spiritual practice, all read and mostly gathering dust. All that advice to "go off and be quiet" just does not speak to my extraverted and very public self. Jane Redmont's book is the first I've seen that embraces the wildly varied personalities of those who dare to pray. She not only acknowledges the variety, but invites the reader into new spaces where God may be found. I've bought and given away half a dozen copies of this book, and I'm waiting for the paperback version so I can afford to pass more around! What a treasure. It doesn't sit on my shelf. It gets USED.

I am very impressed and moved by this book. It is not just another one of those books on spirituality that leaves you hungry the next day. It's a book you'll want to keep for a lifetime, I think.It is obviously the result of lived experience," and hence very fresh and new sounding,although it harks back to ancient themes that have haunted the daily lives of people since the brginning. A Ph.D. candidate in theology, Redmont wears her scholarly learning lightly and subtly, but it is there, making this a book where the author has not tried to "re-invent" in some New Age way all of spirituality. A very compassionate tome too! It will delight you!

The missing child that they must return to history in order to correct time? John Hudson, son of the famous (famously crazy, that is) Henry Hudson. The only problem: JB, Jonah and Katherine's time travel...supervisor, you could say, is unable to find the 21st century boy who is actually John Hudson to send him back to the past. A truly missing child!But, of course, there are more problems than just a missing (missing) historical figure. Jonah must pretend to be John, mask, wigs, clothing, and all, in hopes of setting history straight. However, after an hour or so aboard the Discovery, Henry Hudson's ship, all time is thrown out of balance. My almost 14 year old son loved this book and series. He read it for optional summer reading.

I am a 12 year old girl who loves reading and when i started reading the missing series i fell in love. I would totally recommend this book to anybody who loves reading, or for any parent who wants their child to start reading. It is also a book that is for pretty much all ages.

Son really liked the series.

I love it as a matter of fact I've got my husband and daughter riding it and when there done I'm have 3 people at work reading it.

Lots of drama with not much substance.

Another great book in "The Missing" series! These books are really well written and contain a lot of historical knowledge presented in a very entertaining format. I hope she keeps them coming!

Our family has enjoyed some of the what if scenarios and laughed about them. Our children are all teenagers, and they are able to understand the science as explained in the book. Their favorites are the fastest manmade object and the nuclear reactor swimming pool. The teenagers have asked us to read these aloud on long car trips.

If you enjoy Randall Munroe's webcomic, XKCD.com , you will love this fun compilation from his blog- What if? Readers present him with absurd questions such as: What would happen if everyone on earth was in the same place and they all jumped simultaneously? Or Could you make a periodic table with actual pieces of each element? Or What would happen if you went swimming in the containment pool of a nuclear reactor? Munroe applies his extensive knowledge to each question- with unexpected and entertaining results. I bought this book after thoroughly enjoying another of his books- Thing Explainer. I purchased both because I have enjoyed XKCD for years and wanted to support his efforts. I'm glad I did, because I will enjoy sharing both with family and friends!

I love the blog and was really looking forward to this book, but buying the kindle edition was a mistake. There are a lot of missing images, and many of them are also strangely enlarged or shrunk. I'll probably buy the hardcover edition later, anyone looking to buy this stay away from the kindle.

Best bathroom book ever... and I mean that in the very best possible way you can imagine.If you want your party guests to quickly return to intelligent conversations after visiting the loo, while still providing them with appropriate reading material, you cannot possibly do better than this.Short chapters, great illustrations, fascinating topics...I don't even want to think about how many hours of research went into this book, but it is absolutely amazing and I have given away multiple copies to friends over the years. Very, very highly recommended if you have even a passing interest in science and geekiness...Thank you Randall Munroe!

I love sharing the things I learn from this book with my roommates. Sadly, some of them don't understand why on earth I'd want to read what they deem a physics textbook that tells you nothing useful. I rebuttal by explaining that it's not too different from Mythbusters. Sometimes the absurd questions have definite answers, like what would happen to the batter if a pitcher pitched a ball at nearly the speed of light. Some simply don't have fun answers, but he takes them a step further to make them fun! Similar to Mythbusters, where the see what would have to happen to get the desired result. What happens if everyone on earth shined a laser pointer at the moon? Nothing noticeable. What about if everyone on the earth shined a megawatt laser at the moon? something much more interesting. This book is all kinds of fun and a great coffee-table book. I can highly reccomend it.

This was much more detailed and advanced than I thought it would be. It popped up when I was searching for books for my son, books that had to do with subjects like anatomy and maps and other "intelligent" topics (vs. picture books and character stories). It's way too advanced for my son, but my husband will love it and perhaps can simplify the ideas for my son. The book itself is very interesting, but might be a bit much for those not too mathematically inclined.

Some of the most interesting and entertaining learning I've ever done. Randal Munroe illustrates the beauty of science in this book by showing how it all still applies even in ridiculous situation leading to hilarious results. I love this book and had the e-version for a while but really just wanted to be able to put it on my shelf and thumb through it while feeling the pages.

I purchased this as a gift but managed to read almost the entire book without breaking the binding before I gave it away. I witnessed a 17-year old boy shout with laughter and delight as he turned the pages for the first time. I laughed out loud while reading it, myself. "This is AWESOME!" he crowed, and immediately began reading excerpts to me. Definitely a hit! Most of my gifts tend to be literary. I believe books are so valuable; they can be read and shared over and over again throughout a lifetime. This book, in particular, could be given to so many diverse individuals! I can't think of a single acquaintance of mine who would not get a kick out of it. It would also be great to keep on the bedside table in the guest room for restless visitors. Enjoy!

This book was my first introduction to the fields of logistics and supply chain management as the textbook for my graduate-level international logistics class. What I like most about this book is that Martin Christopher is concise. Christopher created a book that, while compact, conducts a wide-reaching overview of the subject. There is room for Christopher to delve deeper into certain topics, but his avoidance is what makes the book highly accessible. I highly recommend this as an introduction to the subject for business students, MBA students, or anyone who wants to get familiar with logistics and supply chain management.

"Logistic And Supply Chain Management" is one the best books written in this field. It explores most of the issues related with the supply chain in a comprehensive and yet clear manner. It's updated with the latest concepts and approaches in the industry. This book is a must for your own personal library.

After reading various textbooks on logistics, quantitative analysis and strategy, this book was very refreshing, in large part from the fact that it is a short and non-technical book. The title of my review says it all, this book is summary for busy people wanting to get som insights into what is going on in logistics and organizational theory . I got through the book in two readings, which is a very valuable aspect for busy people.Still, despite being brief, it touches on most important aspects, and points you to further areas of importance if what you read here makes you want to change things in your organization.So: Not technical, easy read, 4 stars instead of 5 because it is too brief to be truly useful for those that actually want to learn the subject-matter.

If you like me need to get to SCM strategic or tactical decisions, I would rather consult other books I also own. "Strategic Logistics Management" from a school book perspective and the brand new "Designing and Managing the Supply Chain" are excellent and better resources, covering everything (and then some) this book can offer. I will probably resell my copy of this book.For SAP "Jockeys" or those who are thinking about SAP, "Supply Chain Management based on SAP Systems" is Excellent.

It gives a very good overview of SCM. It makes Supply Chain Management look far more simpler than it really is or has become in the last few decades. However, the depth is missing!

I really wanted to like this book. The first page we are greeted with the "F" and " S" word. My daughter showed me . I started to read through the book to read it before her. I'm not ok with a 10 year old reading about blow jobs . This book was returned.

This is a quality young adult graphic novel and definitely has merit. I'm saying this as someone who has studied YA literature and has a degree in English literature and is certified to teach secondary English. Perhaps not all, but many of the parents who are complaining about the content may be a bit naive about what it going on in their teenagers' lives. There are several themes in here that may be difficult for tweens to grasp, such as miscarriage and social issues surrounding paternity, but if a parent plays an active role in discussing and reading the literature his or her child is reading, this book presents an opportunity to open up communication about difficult social issues, especially regarding sexuality, between parent and child. If you don't want to "jump into the deep end" with something this explicit just yet, I recommend easing in with a novel such as Hard Love or The First Part Last. An interesting companion novel, to compare themes, would be Crank or Go Ask Alice.

I either wasn't in the mood for a graphic novel or I had too much other stuff to read or work to do, and I just never picked it up.This afternoon, though, I was combing through my bookshelf looking for something quick to read while my daughters watched Beauty and the Beast for the tenth time this week, and I decided that today I was finally going to pick this up.Rose and her parents go to a lake house at Awago Beach every summer. There, Rose gets to spend the summer with her friend, Windy, and the two of them are inseparable for the whole summer. They can watch movies, go swimming, hang out at each other's houses - pretty much everything they want. Plus, Rose and her parents always have fun, too.But this summer, things are already different. Her parents are fighting all the time, and sometimes they even quit talking to each other for long periods of time. Windy is acting a little different, and there is a new guy working at the little store in town, and Rose can't help but think about him a lot. When Rose and Windy witness something with the new guy's girlfriend, they try and put the pieces of this puzzle together to figure out what's going on.At the same time, things are getting even worse between Rose's parents, and Windy doesn't seem to want to do the same things Rose wants to do anymore, making it seem as though they are growing apart.This summer at Awago Beach is unlike any other, and it's the summer that it becomes obvious that Rose is really growing up, whether or not she is ready to.Not only is that a really pretty cover, but the inside illustrations are really well done and add so much personality to this book. I love how they are only done in blue, grey, and purple hues instead of full color - it makes the story a lot deeper and more meaningful, and every page of this book is so beautiful.I've seen some negative reviews for this book about the use of language being a problem for the younger audience, but truthfully, I've heard eight year old kids swear more than what is said in this book, so I can't really agree with that. Sure, there are words like "slut" thrown around here and there, but there isn't anything in this book that I think would be all that harmful - maybe the F-word once? Either way, that isn't something that would bother me, and if this is the kind of book my twelve year old daughter wanted to pick up, I would overlook that, because the book is a really meaningful graphic novel that touches on a lot of important things.One of the important things that This One Summer touches on is the bond of friendship. I loved the friendship that went on between Rose and Windy. They loved each other like sisters, and spent all of their time together. They had meaningful conversations and they talked about real stuff. It's the kind of friendship you can't help but love.Another thing that it touches on is parental issues and how it looks to a child. It might not seem like a big thing, but for those who have experienced it, it might help them to feel not quite as alone when dealing with the problems of their parents. In this book, Rose's parents have issues that they try to work out, but Rose can sense it and it really has an effect on her.The characters, the story, and the illustrations are all beautifully done and incredibly easy to love. I finished this book in the course of a single afternoon and already plan on going back and rereading it very soon!

The artwork in "This One Summer" reaches out and pulls the reader into the story. It is a very sad but well told tale.I have only one caution. The age range is 12-18. The subject matter is such that it may not be appropriate for some 12 year olds:1)references to porn, oral sex, and blow jobs and 2) language.You will have to decide if this is appropriate for your child. My older child can deal with it, but my younger one (still with in suggested age range) wanted nothing to do with it.I was actually surprised at how difficult the story was. There was hope and joy, but so much sadness. The cover artwork is so joyful that I didn't expect it to be quite so heavy. I know it hinted at issues, but I was still not prepared.
