It's an interesting read, and I did learn a lot in a general sense; but I wanted a quick reference to common mj pests and specific advice on how to get rid of them. Rosenthal gives us a very nice entomology lesson, and does have some tables listing the info I was after. Unfortunately, the structure of the book is more geared to Ed's passionate interest in the bugs themselves, and he really does not provide an easy-to-use reference for those who are just trying to raise a plant or two for personal use. I'd like to see the book reformatted, with the entomology lessons in the front section and the reference tables and photographs in a dedicated section in the back.

Have always liked Ed's books, but this one was a waste of my money. Covers very few pests and diseases and it's hard to find specific info. It's one of my newer books, but already sits at the bottom of the pile. Wouldn't buy again.

Ed Rosenthal is well known and respected when it comes to growing cannabis so I did not hesitate to get this book. While it has some good and useful info in it, it also has some stuff which is incredibly wrong. The pictures for Tobacco Mosaic Virus are VERY clearly pictures of plants infested with Hemp Russet Mites (as seen in the included picture). Anyone who has tried to diagnose russet mites knows that a very common mistake "master growers" make is to call it TMV. As russet mites are quickly becoming the scourge of cannabis, this mistake is a big one and is unexcusable for someone as trusted as Ed. This is pest and disease ID 101. TMV is pretty much impossible to confirm without a lab test. Also, the steps for preventing it's transmission in plants were incorrect as well.

I was very happy that he really digs into the subject at hand in detail with nice color photos and really covers the problems and how to prevent them, I've read other books on the subject but I really felt like he went above everyone else. I walked away really knowing more than I did when I went into reading it I find myself making changes to my garden area because of what I've learned here.

It's a great book. A friend loaned me his, so I ordered it. It's full of helpful information about keeping any greenhouse or garden healthy, with focus being a cannabis crop. It would be useful for any greenhouse situation, regardless what is being grown.

The trick is to write a delightfuly ridiculous froth a la Carriger; or make a protagonist the reader could both disbelieve and WANT to be true, like Raybourne's new Veronica Speedwell.For actual wonderful writing exactly in the genre and books with internally coherent plots, well-fleshed characters, and believable dialogue; read Kate Ross, Madeleine Robins, and Georgette Heyers.

I was very interested in the basic premise of this book which is a detective society in Regency England. The execution of this potentially interesting concept left a lot to be desired. The plot line was both poorly constructed and predictable. An editor would have been a great help here. I felt the author had plot pieces she wished to utilize and rammed them in when possible. The plot felt forced and plastic. The abduction was the most ridiculous of all and I completely stopped reading at that point. It was more Nancy Drew than C S Harris.The characters were artificial, without true emotional connection, and simplistic-predictable again. The ruined but intrepid commoner and, of course, the mysterious duke both of whom have difficult backgrounds. Gee, why hasn't anyone thought of that before? Whenever I see a duke as the H, I cringe. It's been done well but rarely. There were too many characters, all of whom were simplistically drawn. The h seemed more TSTL than intrepid.The storyline was choppy and went on and on. Again, needed an editor. I recently read a Christmas short story by this author which I liked and which was well done. This author needs to either stay with short stories or tighten her full novels.Although I can understand an author's desire to build a series, I resent buying and taking the time to read a poorly constructed story which pushes the next book. Originality and depth were both missing. The author tried to do too much and nothing got completed.

I was disappointed in this series after I read Deadly Scandal, and I had hopes. In my opinion, there was a lot of padding that added nothing to the story, the pace was slow (which is not necessarily bad) and the tone & language were out of place, too modern for the time period. I read it to the end, but guessed the murderer about three chapters before the characters did, which again does not bother me, I just failed to engage fully with the heroine, which IS important. If you are not as picky as I am, you'll probably enjoy this, it does have it's redeeming features.

This is the most enjoyable series that I have read in a while. And each book so far seems to have two investigations, the one that makes the book and the side one of her investigating her parents' killer. Very entertaining story, proving you don't need violence, sex, and gore to shock and entertain. I salute this author for her ability to pull me out of my life while giving me pure entertainment. Cant speak for the entire series yet, but this one was a pleasure to readUpdate- don't read after the second book. What started off as such a fun series, quickly snowballs downhill. By book 3 I'm pretty sure the author had stopped caring. I really enjoyed the first two, but 3 and 4 are really awful. Both fall flat and waste what was once a good story. I just wanted to warn the type of people who this could help during their decision making process. As I said, first two books were very enjoyable..as enjoyable as 3 and 4 are miserable to read

I think you might call this a beach read. There's not much to the plot or the mystery. The characters are ok but not compelling. The style veers from mystery to romance/fantasy and back without being very successful as either. What it is emphatically NOT is in any way Victorian. It has the occasional superficial element of Victorian life, but the characters show neither the habits nor culture nor attitudes of Victorian England. 3 stars is actually pretty generous, but I did read it all the way to the end, so it was entertaining enough to be better than nothing.

Parker keeps the readers attention easily as she develops the characters early with just enough tension to let you know that something "more" there. I also love the setting, a bookstore, a place where our hero can research any information she requires, as well as, periodic romps into the culture of England's aristocracy. Being a visual person the scenes are easily imagined. Oh yes, definitely a "who done it" and that is always a pleasure. A pleasure to read with very limited gore.

I love historical mysteries with some romance. If you do also then you may enjoy this book. liked the main characters, but don't love them yet, especially the heroine. She seems a little insensitive which is odd given her back story.There was a lot going on in this story--it dealt with blackmail so we learned a number of secrets. At times it was hard to keep everyone straight--at least for me. As much as we learned about these folks I hope some of them show up again.I have ordered book 2. This series has promise.

The book was used but came in great shape for my son to use it for school. I really did it cause I didn't want to fill out the long form again to set it up. I already had my account and knew the reliability of Amazon. The book came within the specified delivery window which was a plus. I choose to use snail mail, and it took the slow boat. The only thing that was disappointing was they did not let me track it. All in all I was satisfied with the results. I was glad that I choose to buy this book from here rather than another site.

Pretty easy to follow, author does a great job of walking the student through the electricity process.

Loneliness and salvation, hope and desperation are the hidden themes of this book. Every spread presents a mystery to be solved. Each image needs to be carefully examined many times, and each viewing reveals a new truth, a new detail that grabs your attention. It's not to be flipped through. Subtle themes are hard to capture in street photography but Grazda has the touch. There is no self-consciousness in his work.The photographs are juxtaposed and connected to each other but not in an obvious way. The subtext is New York's lost soul: stewed fresh blueberries, 30 cents; a small black owl inexplicitly rests on the sidewalk while across the page sits a black 1960s T-Bird, its hood and doors spread like wings. Is it better to find comfort and salvation inside the fuzzy dark neon warmth of Rose's Bar, or from the blustering street preacher in the photo across the gutter?The headline in a subway rider's New York Post reads "I Just Shot John Lennon" while the facing page shows several ethereally draped figures in a fenced off park. An ace of spades lies on a damp, dark sidewalk across from a photo of the Ravenite Social Club, a forbidding storefront mafia hangout whose windows are decorated with enigmatic spray-painted outlines of Christmas figures. Street fires burn fiercely in a steel drum, a flaming TV set, and an exploding 4th of July crucifix, all offering cleansing warmth.All of these powerful street scenes are connected to a recurring image: the outstretched and forgiving arms of a rooftop Christ statue that once stood across the street from Grazda's loft on Bleecker Street near the Bowery."Mean Streets" documents a New York scene that hadn't changed much from the Great Depression but was about to change forever. There is no voyeurism in Grazda's work. Each frame draws you into the lives of the subjects in his photos. Will they find salvation? Or are they lost forever in a fleeting glimpse before the streets were wiped clean.

This is a truly special book. In my opinion, NY street photography had a heyday between the mid 50's and early 70's. And although there were of course great bodies of work to still come, not as much was captured of New York's economic decay leading into the Ford, Carter, And Reagan eras. The city became a wilder place; a period with more crime and grime, and fewer cares. Ed set out to capture the cars, the styles, the storefronts and the streets all the while, from where he lived, a glowing statue symbolizing gods love keeps watch over the city at night. Bleak and beautiful, a place where people interacted with each other and not small electronic devices it's a period in New York's history that will never exist again. Because of these things this book is important.

When you carry a camera every day the world opens in magical ways, Ed Grazda’s Mean Streets, NYC 1970-1985 is such a body of work. Grazda is a photographer who carries a camera, he makes his awareness available during the everyday journeys in the greatest city in the world. In a time before cell phones, the rhythm of the street was different, more open and in many ways more aware. Page after page there’s a lot of love in this book. Just buy it.

this is an amazing book full of history. some of the spots still exist and it is worth a read. wish the photos had captions. great look back in history.

Some good photos in here but not really that compelling of a pictorial history of the Big Apple in the 70's. Just ok.

Pokluda came to understand the grace of the Gospel in his early twenties after being involved in different denominational churches his entire life. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite books for myself and to give people as gifts. This book is SO well written and walks young adults through how to handle the major things of life with a different and better perspective. If you think you have life figured out in your 20s or 30s, like I thought I did, I'd highly recommend picking up this book. The truths written in this book will change the trajectory of your life in the best way possible and give your life purpose.

This book is incredible. JP helps to navigate all of the things young adults go through, from relationships to finances and everything in between. He does this all while pointing to the Gospel and how a life lived for Christ is a life well lived. Can’t recommend this book enough!!

This book was incredibly disappointing and laughable at some sections as the religious aspect completely takes over; especially in the second half. The title was misreading into thinking this book would show me how to navigate faith itself as well as other aspects of adult life not how to navigate all of those things WITH faith. Some of the "advice" given was close minded and some sources given showed clear bias. I even felt as though my own views simply made me helpless via the advice being given. If you are not a devote christian or even remotely feel removed from the church or religion as a whole, this book will not help you.

I am already way into my “adulting” years, but this was a great book. I have read it and passed it on to my oldest child and then it will go on to my middle child. This book has so much useful information and I am sure will help out my girls out greatly. I got this book for a class, to get a few points extra credit and I am so glad that it was picked for this reason. I have looked at the negative reviews for this book and it blows my mind that the negative remarks are due to the amount of faith-based information in the book. It is written by a pastor and is meant to show young adults how to “adult” and do it with faith and strength.All in all, this is a great book to show young adults the way to guide themselves through life with faith and understanding of what they need to do. Great book and a must read.

Even if some of these chapters echo teachings you have heard before, JP still has a way of getting at the heart of the "why" of all these subjects that makes what he's saying all the more compelling. It's obvious that this book is intended to be a helpful resource and nothing else, just a message the author really believes in. It's hard to move forward from reading this book without taking a deep look at your life and being prompted to make some changes. Great stuff.

I haven't finished it yet, but this book is profound. JP speaks truth that is sorely need by folks growing up and becoming adults in this day and age. I am really impressed by how well it is written, too. It reads really well and is very engaging. JP is a phenomenal story-teller. I wish I had this book when I was in my early twenties!!!

This is the perfect graduation gift! Wonderful if you have any children 18-35! The subtitle is exactly what the book does- helps young adults navigate faith, friendships, finances and the future. So much wisdom and biblical truths, relevant to anyone in their 20s or 30s. Whether they are graduating high school, college, or they are in their 30s hitting their head against the real world- this book is for them! If your nest is not so empty, I’d also encourage you to buy this book as a subtle hint. ;) I bought 9 copies for gifts! The audible book is narrated by the author and is engaging and fun. If you are 18-35 or looking to get to know this demographic better, this book is for you! There are questions after every chapter which makes it a great read for a small group!

I've been listening to JP's teaching for almost eight years, so it's safe to say I've heard much of this book vocally from a stage. Still, JP manages to dig deeper using words on paper to get to the heart of the adult life. He has a powerful story of redemption that gives hope to those who are are a little lost and looking for some direction. Read this book and take some time to see where you are.
