This is a truly interesting and fascinating book. It comprises 467 pages and there is not one page that's boring or meaningless. The interview questions presented to the 22 women are not your usual run of the mill stuff. Here are examples of just a few questions: How do you deal with cravings for junk food? What are your top tips of losing unwanted body fat? If you would be a character in fiction, who would you be? Who has been the biggest influence in your life? Do you believe in the Law of Attraction? What is your best feature? What's your definition of happiness?And there are questions that often evoke amusing answers. Here is one of them: While you are watching TV in your home a penguin walks through the door wearing a sheriff's hat and badge. What does he say? Here my favourite answer: "Stop drinking those double tequila margaritas because you're seeing a penguin in a sheriff's hat and badge."The women interviewed are without exception women with interesting life experience and are willing to share these experiences. Of course not every question and answer is relevant to every reader. However, as I said at the beginning, in my opinion there is not one page that does not contain something to ponder, reflect or smile about.I do congratulate the book's author, Andy Charalambous, for having produced a truly remarkable book which I'm happy to recommend highly to female and male readers alike.

I highly recommend reading this book if you're either a fan of paranormal or love Amy Sparling like I am!!!Follow the paranormal love story between Cara and Theo and see the "strange" occurrence in how Theo wants to try to "save" Cara and her best friend Riley!!!Another FAVORITE book couple!!!

I loved this book. The plot is unlike anything I've ever read before. Very interesting and I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

This story is a little out there but a good story nonetheless. Two teenagers find themselves running out of options just as a chance of a lifetime comes along. Who doesn't make bad choices at 18

I never discuss the books I read with my husband, unless the idea is good and I really like the book. I told him all about this one.

Just when you think you have read everything out there about immortality along comes The Immortal Mark. It is one of the better new books I have read this year. No vampires, werewolves, or witches in this story but is awesome nonetheless.

Awesome series of books, keeps you on edge the whole time.

Different is refreshing, I just wish there would have been more back story into the immortals. But overall a good book!

I love Amy Sparling's books! I'm excited about this new series. It was new and different from everything else she's ever written. Good start!

McKenna knows a ton about PTSD and has done her homework. There are some really interesting characters but they are never developed because she keeps going on and on about PTSD.What she knows about cows and horses and ranching is not very much. The ranch is in financial trouble but they have the money for a large covered arena? From where? Out of thin air? A covered arena is really, really expensive, just saying. And you have to laugh about a bale of hay costing 100 dollars. A Ton of hay depending on what part of the country you live in can be between 100 to 300 a TON. A horse needs a minimum of 16 lbs of hay a day so an 80 lb bale is not going to last 10 days...and then the grocery issue? They can't afford beef? Please, it's Wyoming frigging cattle country. Most ranches keep steers around for the freezer. You slaughter your own. So there is always meat in the freezer.The point being made is we need to do more for our vets. After being bludgeoned about it for the entire book I get it. But you still need to develop the characters and add in some accuracy about day to day ranch operations and not make stuff up. For the record I'm a ranch and horse owner so it's laughable to read stuff like this. I don't think I'll be reading the rest of this series.

I am a fan of Lindsay McKenna and some, not all, of her books involve PTSD and the problems our veterans face when they return home. This book goes on and on and on about PTSD and the plight of our homeless veterans, it NEVER stopped. I ended up skimming the pages in hope of more plot development, I finally gave up 1/2 way thru, it is so bad/boring. I respect our Veterans, I am so sorry about their suffering and wish I could do more, but I purchase a romance to escape from reality and it is not fair that I pay good money for an author to preach to me about their beliefs/charity/opinion. Lindsay McKenna has gone the way several other senior romance authors and now uses her, once wonderful books, as tools to push her points of view.

I have long been a fan of Ms. McKenna’s books – and a rabid Delos series reader! – and I have read the first Wind River story. However, Wind River Rancher touched me, on so many levels, right from page 1. Yeah, I was a little annoyed that I started snifflin’ so early in the book but truly, it will touch your heart and soul. Maybe it is because she was in the military herself, still works with and supports military families and vets, or maybe it is because she feels what a Vet is going thru. I am just happy that she creates these stories for us to read and enjoy.WRR is about Shay Crawford, a veteran, and Reese Lockhart, also a veteran. Shay is building a ranch for wounded vets where they can heal and truly feel useful to society – and themselves. All of the wranglers, including Shay, are a ragtag group that has formed a family. And they welcome Reese into their fold right away. He makes a difference, to all, but mostly to Shay and himself. What a healing journey for these two!We get to meet some characters from the previous book – no biggee, this is a standalone novel – and they add some spice to this story. I love Charlie; you’ll meet him right away and he is a big part of the reason for my beginning sniffles.There’s lots of heart in this story! I won’t recap because it is too good for me to condense into not-quite-enough words. I wholeheartedly recommend Wind River Rancher and will bet that you fall in love with Reese at page one.

This book was a bit slow for me in the coming together of Shay and her newest wrangler Reese. The story contained a powerful message in how our vets with PTSD are often forgotten when they return. It also highlighted how the effects of PTSD impacts the lives of their families.What made this a mere 3 star book for me was the excessive repetitions of references to PTSD. In my opinion, it was too much with no new information, it was as if the reader forgot 2 pages ago that everyone is a vet and suffering from PTSD. Over and over and over same references.Without a doubt, our vets deserve better but the book could have done a better job in bringing attention to this issue.

While I am sure this book oversimplifies this look into PTSD and the horrible affects it has on our veterans, I really did think that it at least scratched the surface and provided a narrative toward understanding. The love story was sweet and not rushed and I really liked the other characters who live at the ranch. They get their own books later and I have begun reading those as well. A nice collection of heartwarming stories.

Storyline on PTSD excellent however a little redundant. Plot was over 2 chapters before end and left the "father" storyline without much conclusion. Sexual scenes not ip to McKenna standards and 8 have read everyone of her books. Let's see what she does with Garret.

Even with that, I still enjoyed the story. I found that skipping the bulk of the interior dialogue sections and 'explanations' helped the flow of the story. I'm not a rancher or ex-military, but even I understand the ideas and bits about PTSD and daily life on a working ranch. I'd like to see future work from this author after the extra verbiage is reduced. I'll bet it will be downright addicting.

Wonderful story about a wounded warrior woman wanting to help others like herself. The friendships and love she has around her, and the man who she finds she can share her love with. Romantic and heartwarming book about people sharing and growing together.

There are a number of books that provide a theology of the work of the Holy Spirit. Likewise, there are also a number of books that critique the charismatic movement, pointing out its excesses and disputing its biblical foundation. However, it is rare to find a book that both affirms that God is at work in the charismatic movement and also rejects the major claims of that very same movement. But in "Keep in Step with the Spirit: Finding Fullness in our Walk with God", J.I. Packer has done just that. In just 200 pages or so, Packer lays out a positive theology of the work of the Holy Spirit and issues challenges to both cessationists and charismatics. So what will you find inside? Let's me give you an overview.Before Packer begins to lay out a theology of the Spirit or seriously assessing charismatic claims, he uses chapter 1 to highlight and question some assumptions about the operation of the Spirit which are common in charismatic circles. First is the question of power (p.24-6). The Spirit is often viewed as something which you "switch on and use" (p.26 emphasis original) and which helps one to "perform" better, be that holy living or miraculous gifting (p.27). This focus on power for performance instead of on purity results in a man-centeredness which "does not take us to the heart of the truth about the Spirit" (p.31). Rather, the work of the Spirit is to glorify Jesus. This primary work of the Spirit is highlighted in John 16:13 ("He will take what is mine and declare it to you"), a verse which Packer returns to frequently throughout the book.Following on from his thesis that the primary role of the Spirit is to glorify Jesus, Packer lays out his understanding of the ministry of the Holy Spirit in chapter 2. To help readers understand how the Holy Spirit and Christ relate, Packer uses the illustration of a floodlight (p.57). A well placed floodlight does not call attention to itself but instead casts light upon some other object. The Holy Spirit's role is to direct the attention and faith of Christian believers to the person and work of Christ, not to Himself. The Spirit gives us new birth in Christ (p.58), teaches us about Christ, and causes us to confess & follow Christ (p.65). The witness of the Spirit makes us "sure that the apostles' Christ is real and is ours" (p.65). The Spirit assures us of Christ's love for us poured out at the cross (p.66).After reaffirming in chapter 3 the spotlight ministry of the Spirit, and reminding us of the attention given to personal holiness by previous generations, Packer spends chapter 4 laying out three primary understandings of sanctification within evangelicalism, namely the Augustinian view, the Wesleyan Perfectionist view, and the Keswick view (named after the annual Bible conference which formerly emphasized this teaching). The Augustinian view acknowledges man's continual struggle against sin and temptation, even after conversion, and emphasizes the believer's need to actively fight against sin while optimistically expecting the Spirit to empower and progressively free one from sin. Wesleyan Perfectionism claims that it is possible for believers to reach a point where, in a single moment, the Holy Spirit roots out of their hearts all motives but love. Though originally taught by him, John Wesley never claimed to have attained this state of "sinless perfection". The Keswick view, which grew out of Wesleyan Perfectionism, also affirmed the possibility of "sinless perfection". In contrast to Wesley's view, Keswick taught that the way to attain perfection was not through active seeking, but through passivity. Those who desire a holy life should "let go and let God" by entirely consecrating themselves to Him. After comparing the strengths and weaknesses of each, Packer asserts his belief that the Augustinian view is the most well grounded, in both Scripture and reality. Packer reaches this conclusion not only by biblical and rational arguments but by reflection upon his own personal experience as a new Christian at Oxford in the 1940s."he had heard and read his teachers describing a state of sustained victory over sin. It was pictured as a condition of peace and power in which the Christian, filled and borne along by the Holy Spirit, was kept from falling and was moved and enabled to do things for God which were otherwise beyond him... But [his] experience as he tried to follow instructions was like that of the poor drug addict whom he found years later trying with desperate concentration to walk through a brick wall.... According to the teaching, all that ever kept Christians from this happy life was unwillingness to pay the entry fee - in other words, failure to yield themselves fully to God. So all he could do was repeatedly reconsecrate himself, scraping the inside of his psyche till it was bruised and sore in order to track down still unyielded things by which the blessing was perhaps being blocked. His sense of continually missing the bus, plus his perplexity as to the reason why he was missing it became painful to live with, like a verruca or a stone in your shoe that makes you wince with every step you take. (p.128-129)Though Packer is a brilliant theologian, it is pastoral rather than academic concerns that drive this book, clearly illustrated by passages like this one. As a young Christian, Packer was tormented by the "unrealities of overheated holiness teaching" (p.129) and longs to see others find the same freedom that he did.In chapters 5 and 6, we see that though there are surface differences, charismatics and non-charismatics have similar experiences of seeking God and being transformed by his love and his truth. However, they have different names for what they experience. Rather than dismiss the charismatic movement entirely, Packer concludes that "God is in it" (161). However, when charismatic experience is pointed to as proof for certain beliefs that are biblically mistaken, problems arise (p.162). There is insufficient Biblical evidence for a second blessing or baptism of the Spirit that believers are to seek. Tongues in Scripture are actual languages that are used for edification, and able to be interpreted. Modern tongues however are often not actual languages and their "[i]nterpretations prove to be as stereotyped, vague, and uninformative as they are spontaneous, fluent, and confident" (p.171). However, tongues can still be a blessing. But when they are, the source is "not the glossalalia as such but the state of mind of which it is said to be the evidence, or... the seeking for a greater fullness of the Spirit which preceded it."(p.171). In sum, Packer suggests that "the right way to theologize and explain these experiences is as in essence deepened awarenesses of the Spirit of adoption bearing witness to the Father's love in Christ (see Rom. 8:15-17) and of the coming of the Father and the Son, through the Spirit, to make themselves known to the obedient saint (see John 14: 15-23)" (p.180). Following this assessment, Packer rounds out the book by restating the Christ-centeredness of the Spirit's ministry and listing some questions that charismatics and non-charismatics need to address.The major strength of the book is Packer's attempt to give a balanced presentation while still coming down firmly on a particular side of the debate. He does this winsomely, looking for the positives of the charismatic movement and expressing throughout his thankfulness for what God is doing in the charismatic movement. Another strength is his attempt to make sense of what is really going on when people speak in tongues or give a prophecy, if it is not from God. Rather than brushing it off as a work of the Devil, Packer tries to reconcile a Biblical theology that doesn't support modern tongues and prophecy with the claimed positive spiritual benefit that people derive from these practices. I have often wondered how one would reconcile these two things and I found Packer's explanations convincing. Not all readers will be convinced but Packer's explanations present a more formidable challenge to charismatics than those who dismiss the whole charismatic endeavor as demonic. Packer doesn't dream of making such an assessment but throughout the book assumes that charismatic believers, by and large, are motivated by a deep love for God.Balanced, Biblically grounded, and pastorally sensitive, Keep in Step with the Spirit is a book that I plan to keep on my shelf, not only for reference but also to share with others. Finally, there is a book that on charismatic issues that I would feel comfortable giving to a charismatic friend.

The author deals with a difficult subject which is often misunderstood and he obviously has written this to help Christians understand the role of the Holy Spirit and to motivate the Christian to the call of holiness by God.J.I. Packer discusses today's charismatic movement, and writes frankly about the shortcomings as well as the blessings of that movement and encourages the Christian to always keep Christ at the center, even when so much of the emphasis in the charismatic movement is on the Holy Spirit.J.I. Packer is recognized as one of today's leading evangelical theologians and he is also the author of " Knowing God ", which is also considered a classic.I read " Keep in Step with the Spirit " some time ago when I was confused about the many movements within the evangelical circles. I had many concerns about the call to holiness, the Keswick movement and the charismatic movement and wanted to find a balance. I asked God to show me and He directed me to this book. I really appreciated the author's non-judgmental approach when he tried to show the biblical and the non-biblical basis for some of the beliefs within the movements. Packer also discusses the inspiration and interpretation of Scripture, which many, many people have questions about. He also discusses the work of the Holy Spirit in revivals vs on a personal level.Now that I am older and I picked up this second edition again, I am convinced that it is just as relevant in this 21st century as it was years ago. I also think that many Christians desire biblical Christianity as a way of life and this book will steer you in that direction, at least it did for me. I highly, highly recommend it and if you have worked your way through, pick up " Knowing God " by the same author, you will be richly rewarded!

This is a terrific book. If you are puzzled by the Holy Spirit, or by all the different slants in various Christian circles on his ministry, you will find this book enlightening.Packer writes in a forthright, yet fair way. He does not seek to knock other views for the sake of it, but often shows how they have valuable insights, though they may be emphasising some things too greatly, or omitting other essentials.His book is not only about the Holy Spirit, and also features important teaching on the trinity, holiness, Christian living and bible reading.I think this book is every bit as good as Knowing God. I'm sorry that I have only just discovered it.The new edition includes a 2005 "Preface to the Preface" and a short chapter on assurance, entitled "Heaven on Earth -a Pentecost Exposition." They are worth reading, but maybe not worth the cost of a new book if your copy is still in good nick.Highly recommended.

I got the Bearded Dragon Care book for my Grand son, so he could better take care of BOB. I like BOB so much i ordered the equipment from Amazon (much cheaper than the pet store). I read the whole book and then got LIZ. Both Beardies are doing great. The book tells everything to take great care of your Bearded Dragon.

The book is informative but very poorly written and edited. Subheadings are on the bottom of one page and the information is on the next page. Proper spelling and grammar are both lacking.

I'm a little disappointed that there aren't pictures. The lack of illustrations is what will make me consult another book over this one for questions about my bearded dragon itself, like sexing or health questions. However, for more black & white facts, like the dragon's environmental setup, this book is great. It's a nice addition to a beardie library.

Bought this to use in my classroom. We have a Bearded Dragon named Lizzy, and the students love reading and learning how to care for her.

I suppose this book would've been more appreciated had we not also had Fodor's guide. Since we found Fodor's to be better, we mostly used this book to add a second opinion for resturants. What was good about this book was that it named A LOT of places in Puerto Rico so you we had no shortage of suggestions for places to eat, etc, and it had a light, entertaining style. I suppose it was better than Fodor's for the variety suggestions (and Fodor's seemed to prefer expensive places that we found to be so boring compared to the cheap local eateries). What was bad was that the stream-of-conciousness writing in "Beaten Path" didn't seem very studious in comparison, so it was harder to determine whether we wanted to follow it, or not. Rather than a few sentences, it seemed like each place got 1 adjective before the author moved on to something else.

Good and interesting facts. This one was worth it.

The book was very informative to use while vacationing in Puerto Rico. We wanted to go off the beaten path and it directed us easily to many beaches. Good use of money.

After reading this book it gave me an inside of places most needing to visit. Instead of driving all around the island in search of places to explore, the book gave me ideas and a map of places that contain fabulous already explores revenues. The reading was great and so were the details.

We visited Puerto Rico 20 years ago, and used "Off the Beaten Path" to guide us around the island. It was fabulous. Now we're going back, and are delighted to learn that there's an update to the book. If you have any inkling that you might visit PR in the future, grab a copy of this book right away!
