Review

Publisher's Weekly bestsellerECPA bestseller“Jessica’s perspective of global sisterhood and the power of lifting one another up in the midst of fear and scarcity is exactly what we need today. This book is both an invitation and a challenge to bravely show up for ourselves, for the people we love, and for the strangers that we will one day call family. I say, ‘Amen!’” —Brené Brown, PhD, #1 New York Times best-selling author of Braving the Wilderness “I absolutely love this book. Jessica is smart, brave, honest, and funny, and this book is the perfect mix of listening-ear and kick-in-the-pants. Equal parts compassion and challenge, this is a must-read for all of us who want to make a difference with our lives but sometimes find fear and anxiety standing in the way.” —Shauna Niequist, New York Times best-selling author of Present Over Perfect and Bread and Wine “Sometimes a desperate need creates an opportunity to transform the world. Jessica’s story provides a beautifully imperfect tapestry for understanding what surrender and courage can look like when unexpected need tests our faith. She shows us that stepping into our stories can build a path to change someone else’s story. Learn how to harness your fear and transform it into courage that will change the world.” —LaTasha Morrison, founder and president of Be the Bridge  “Pick your reason to read this book: you care about the world, you are an entrepreneur, you love fashion, you love women, you have big ideas, you have a global mind-set, you are a builder, a dreamer, a visionary, a Texan (there is plenty of Texas in Jessica’s story). Imperfect Courage is fuel for all of these. It is as generous and adventurous as Jessica, who is the greatest leader, creator, and friend I’ve ever known.” —Jen Hatmaker, New York Times best-selling author of Of Mess and Moxie and host of the For the Love podcast “Jessica inspires me to think so much bigger than my own two hands. I’m so inspired by her heart and tenacity as an entrepreneur and by her commitment to connecting, empowering, and inspiring women around the world!” —Emily Ley, founder of Simplified and best-selling author of Grace, Not Perfection and A Simplified Life “Jessica Honegger has written a must-read account of how the work of justice goes hand in hand with women’s empowerment. And it all starts with steps of imperfect courage.” —Melissa Russell, chief advancement officer for International Justice Mission “Jessica is such an incredible example of what a leader in business should be. Not only because she’s had the courage to push herself to create a company from the ground up, but because she made her way down the road to success and then turned around and held a lantern up to light the way for the rest of us. This is a must-read for anyone who’s chasing big dreams on a road that feels unsteady!” —Rachel Hollis, New York Times best-selling author of Girl, Wash Your Face “As the CEO of Noonday Collection, Jessica’s lack of pretense and commitment to transparency have earned the trust of artisans and consumers alike. This book caught my attention for a whole bunch of reasons: I'm a fan of the products and mission of Noonday Collection (the fair-trade jewelry and accessory business founded by the author), I'm a Christian woman, I'm a people-lover, I have deep-rooted issues with self-worth and comparison, I'm a strong supporter of adoption and foster care, I'm trying hard to develop a greater global mindset, and I'm a (very-very-very-very) small business owner who struggles with life balance. I also happen to be in the middle of a big life transition, and the concept of "going scared" has even more than usual relevance.I expected Imperfect Courage to tick all of these boxes for me. I expected author Jessica Honegger to address compelling social issues, express declarations of faith, and draw back the curtain on Noonday enough to satisfy my frank curiosity about how her madly successful entrepreneurial venture came into being. What I didn't expect was Honegger's resolve to not just draw the curtain back, but rip it off the rod, fully exposing her flaws, failures and sincere, well-intentioned, painful mistakes — with downright cheerfulness and a rueful grin.I didn't expect so much page space to be spent not on herself but others, especially women — using her own record of her own journey to elevate and celebrate the great worth of heroines who may have otherwise remained "unsung" outside of their own communities. As I've been telling my friends, Honegger shines through not just as an author, but as a friend and a sister whose mission in life is to promote selfless, supportive sisterhood among all women, in all places, in all circumstances — because our lives and livelihoods depend on it and WILL benefit from it, if we will just. get. out. there. and be brave enough to link our freaking arms.Anyway: yes. Read it. Read it again and take notes (my next step). Then give it to a friend and go.I received an advanced reader copy of Imperfect Courage. All thoughts and opinions expressed here are my own.

I love a book with depth, that covers multiple areas and that’s not just exclusive to one type of person or just a specific season in your life, etc. This book is not just about the story of Noonday Collection although the mission and what this company is accomplishing still blows my mind and I am so blessed to be an Ambassador.Maybe you just need a cheerleader, a girlfriend cheering you on from the sidelines telling you to keep going, yelling at you that you’ve got this and that your dream is worth it to keep pushing through, that is what Jessica does for you in this book. It’s a reminder of the amazing tribe that women can be for each other. This book speaks to me in many areas as a woman, a wife, a mom, a friend, an entrepreneur, someone who has a heart for adoption (even if you aren’t an adoptive parent, which I’m not, it’s just not something we have been called to but I admire and support all that families that are stepping up to do it). Someone whose heart is stirred for social and global justice, wondering how we can partner with and empower our brothers and sisters across the globe. You name it, it’s for you! Imperfect Courage is a great read and one that I have marked up and will definitely go back to for more 👏

I joke that collaboration is my love language, but I think it might be Jessica's, too. I love that she devotes an entire chapter to going together instead of alone. I'm encouraged by the reality of what can happen when we link arms with other women, celebrating each other's successes and recognizing that "her success doesn't diminish mine." The charge to make generous assumptions about others is particularly refreshing and it has transformed the way I engage in relationships!I especially resonate with Jessica's message to "come close" --- to proximate ourselves to problems around us, recognizing each problem as an invitation to draw closer rather than an excuse to distance ourselves. I'm challenged to widen my own circle to leverage my power to give power to others. If you’ve ever felt stuck, small or scared, Jessica will take you back the hand and lead you through your fear. This book made me weep and giggle as she shared powerful stories of her own triumphs as well as the tenderness of relationships with people living in vulnerable communities around the world. Jessica is a dynamic storyteller, an enthusiastic leader, and a compassionate friend. She is honest, authentic, bold and driven...plus, I love her personal style. As a Christian who cares immensely about issues like human trafficking AND enjoys styling herself in outfits and accessories, I've been so relieved and free to press into BOTH aspects of my nature instead of shying away from the one I thought was "petty." Thank you, Jessica, for the permission to express and embrace the things that make me ME.I highly recommend this book and will be gifting it for years to come to any friend who needs fuel to drive their own dreams forward!

Whether you are reading this the day the book is released or when it finally goes on sale for $1.99 years from now, the example and enCOURAGEment is in this. Live in your place, on purpose with boldness. Jessica gives her real life stories through to the success of her purpose (up to now at Noonday) and its effect globally. You can too! No need for courage if your are not willing to live risky. GO start by buying and reading, "Imperfect Courage".
